Rag Rug

I’ve been collecting these fabric scraps for over 7 years, carrying them round from house to house and country to country, even!  I had planned to make them into a hexi-quilt but know that with my work schedule, I will NEVER get round to it.  Far easier to just make these scraps into colour-coded balls of fun for a rainbow crocheted rag rug, something like this one:

Now the person who made this used t-shirt yarn and in solid colours.  Mine is a collection of cotton quilting and dress fabrics, roughly organised into colour sequences but with patterns, so it will look different to this one, but the idea is the same – get rid of my fabric scraps bag and make something beautiful and long-lasting!

I’ll keep you posted.  🙂

Patons Lace Crochet Ruffle Scarf

If you run a small business, you will know how hard it is to get things done!
I have been working on this crochet ruffle scarf for 4 years now and finally it is finished! You know how it is, life gets in the way, other projects and new yarns take precedence and older projects get shoved aside, right? This year I made a promise to myself to finish all of my WIPs. This one is the first cab off the rank – lol! And 2014 is almost over. 🙂

Anyway, the pattern is a free crochet one from Patons USA/Spinrite Yarns. The yarn is Patons Lace – and I used a plain cream one called Vintage along one side and the variegated/self-striping colour is Sachet – purples and greens with some white. It is surprisingly warm and very lightweight as the yarn is a blend of acrylic, wool and mohair. It also works up very quickly as you crochet in double-trebles for most of it.

Patons Lace also comes in a Sequin version if you prefer some bling and this would be great in this scarf too.

Noro ‘Obi’ Cowl – Store Project

I just finished a super-quick knit in the new ‘Obi’ yarn from Noro.

Just 2 balls is all you need of this bulky/12 ply blend of wool, silk and mohair. I used Colourway 3 which is the same one used in the magazine.

The pattern is from Noro magazine – August 2014

Luscious One-Skein Cowl

Just finished a super-quick and fun crochet project called the “Luscious One-Skein Cowl

We used one x ball of colourway ‘Oceania’.

It’s a FREE Pattern from the talented crochet designer – Tamara Kelly. Check out her blog on the link above – she has LOTS of beautiful free patterns on her site and has been published in quite a few mags too!

For the Luscious One-Skein Cowl, she used a yarn called ‘Lion Brand – Unique’. It is a super-soft bulky acrylic and each ball is variegated/self-striping. There are patterns for it on the Lion Brand site too.
